CITP Device
CITP (Controller Interface Transport Protocol) is an open network protocol used by lighting consoles, media servers, and visualisers to exchange information, such as the transfer of thumbnails and asset-specific naming for media previewing during programming. Designer supports the integration of CITP-enabled lighting consoles for media preview and thumbnail distribution.
Using CITP
Section titled “Using CITP”- grandMA2 3.1.2.5 supported. Version after 3.2.2.3 should also work.
- Hog OS 3.5.0 supported.
- CITP devices join with both multicast addresses, 224.0.0.180 and 239.224.0.180, and in that order.
- Only thumbnail exchange is supported.
In Designer
Section titled “In Designer”- Right-click on Devices.
- Create a new DMX Device.
- Insert the desk’s IP Address (this should ideally be set up on an isolated Art-Net switch).
- Create a CITP Device and assign the DMX Device to it.
- Add a Video layer, assign a DMX patch to it.
- Open the Bank Editor and populate the Video banks.
In grandMA2
Section titled “In grandMA2”- Go to Setup > CITP Network Configuration.
- In the top-right corner of the windows that opens, ensure you set CITP to Enabled (the box should look green once you click it).
- Right-click on New under the MediaServers tab.
- The Disguise machine should appear in the list here. Click to select it.
- Select a fixture layer (one with a Video layer fixture patched to it).
- Select a Library SubAttribute (any sub-attribute seems to work as Disguise doesn’t use this.)
- Select an Image SubAttribute (this needs to be set to Video Slot).
- Click on Update Thumbnails.
- Select the Video layer fixture and navigate to the Video Slot attribute.
- Clicking on the attribute should now display clickable thumbnails and file names on the lighting desk software.
