Designer Pro License Transfer

A Disguise license is stored in a CodeMeter Container (CmContainer), which can reside either on your computer or a USB dongle. In some cases, you may need to transfer a Disguise license to another container, for example, when moving a Designer Pro license from one laptop to another.

To do this, you must first deactivate the license on the current CmContainer then re-host it on the WebDepot and then reactivate it on the new CmContainer. The following steps will guide you through this process.

Re-host an existing license

On the computer that has the relevant license activated (either on a physical USB dongle or a software CmAct container) follow the steps below to re-host the existing license. This will move the license back to the WebDepot, where you can activate it later on another container.

Requirements

To re-host a license you will need:

  • Access to the computer or CodeMeter container which holds the license.
  • The License Ticket ID for the license you want to transfer.

Find the Ticket ID for the license

A License Ticket ID uniquely identifies a license (e.g. for a Designer Pro subscription). It consists of 5 groups of 5 alpha-numeric characters each, e.g.: 1ABCD-2EFGH-3IJKL-4MNOP-5QRST

Follow these steps to find your License Ticket ID:

  1. Using the computer that has the license you want to transfer, Open CodeMeter Control Center via the Windows Start menu. This was installed automatically when you installed Designer.
  2. Select the CmContainer in the left panel that contains the license you want to transfer. CodeMeter Control Center CodeMeter Control Center
  3. Open WebAdmin by clicking the button in the bottom right in CodeMeter Control Center. This will open in your web browser.
  4. Click on the Product Code of the license you want to transfer, e.g. “420” for Designer Pro. CodeMeter WebAdmin CodeMeter WebAdmin
  5. The License Ticket ID can be found int in the License Information row and Value column. Copy this to a safe place, you will use it later. License Ticket ID Location License Ticket ID highlighted in pink

Deactivate and Re-host the license back to the WebDepot

  1. On the machine that has access to the CodeMeter container with the relevant license, navigate to the Disguise CodeMeter License Central Web Depot. Disguise CodeMeter License Central Web Depot Disguise CodeMeter License Central Web Depot
  2. Enter the License Ticket ID that you got from the previous section in to the Ticket field and select Retrieve.
  3. Ensure your ticket details are listed, then click Re-Host Licenses.
  4. Select the licenses you want to re-host and click Deactivate Selected Licenses Now.
Please note that some licenses may not be eligible for re-hosting.
This will only work if the container with the license is on the current machine.
  5. Wait a few seconds for the WebDepot communication to complete.
  6. Once the process has completed you will see a License transfer completed successfully! message. Click OK to continue.

Reactivate the license from the WebDepot

After re-hosting a license you can leave it deactivated on the WebDepot until you are ready to activate it again on another machine or CodeMeter dongle. The clock will continue to count down whether the license is activated or not.

To activate your license follow the steps on the Designer Licenses and Activation Process page.
