Educational Designer Licenses
Disguise used to offer Educational Designer Licenses configured over a local network for several years. These licenses were hosted on a networked system, enabling institutions to validate a set number of seats without the need to distribute, monitor, or manage multiple physical dongles for students.
With the introduction of Designer Starter and Designer Pro this has changed. You can use Designer Starter by downloading the Starter installer from Disguise Cloud and use it for learning Disguise. There is no fee for this. However, Designer Starter applies a watermark to content.
Disguise servers can also be set up for use with the Starter ecosystem, if needed. All media servers should then install the same Designer Starter release as the other PCs in the session. Educational institutions will still need Pro licenses to create watermark-free content.
Training Courses
If your training course does not include the use of a Disguise server, then Designer Starter is ideal, as there is no restriction on core functionality. Students should sign up for Disguise Cloud, install Designer Starter, and then log in to d3Manager with their Disguise Cloud account.
If your training course includes the use of a Disguise server, then there are two options:
- Install Designer Starter on the Disguise server and log in to d3Manager on the server with a Disguise Cloud account. All other Starter instances can then join a d3 session with the server. Note that an intermittent blue flash will be present on outputs.
- Students use Designer Pro. Please contact your account manager to discuss options for obtaining Pro licenses for your training course.
