Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about X1.

Can I achieve 1-to-1 redundancy using 2x Disguise X1 licenses?

Yes, this can be achieved.

Can I output 4x Full-HD (1920 x 1080) outputs instead of 1x 4K DCI output?

Yes, this can be achieved using an external video signal splitter.

Can I do non-16:9 resolutions on Disguise X1?

Disguise X1 supports a total resolution area of 4096 x 2160px across its single output head. Custom resolutions can be achieved across its output head providing that they are within the 4096 x 2160 pixel range, and that the choice of GPU used with Disguise X1 can be configured according to the required resolution.

Can I transfer a Disguise X1 license across different nodes?

Disguise X1 requires a physical Wibu CodeMeter USB License Key that the Disguise X1 license is issued to at the time of launch. The CodeMeter USB License Key enables users to transfer X1 across different nodes for video playback.

Is a CodeMeter USB License Key included in the sale of a Disguise X1 license?

No, the CodeMeter USB License Key can be optionally purchased with a Disguise X1 license

Can I use my own CodeMeter USB License Key with a Disguise X1 license?

Yes, users can use an existing CodeMeter USB License Key for the Disguise X1 license, Users will need to send the serial number of the USB License Key if an existing CodeMeter USB License Key is used.

The Disguise X1 license will be issued via email to the user after purchase, with instructions on how to apply the license to the USB License Key via an email from Disguise.

Can I run Disguise X1 without a CodeMeter USB License Key?

No. We will investigate offering a software-only license after launch.

Can I purchase a weekly, monthly or perpetual Disguise X1 license?

Disguise X1 licenses will only be made available on a recurring basis for 1 year (366 days) at launch. We will monitor demand for other license options over time.

What graphic driver do you recommend for my GPU?

We are unable to verify known-good graphic driver versions for users of Disguise X1.

How can I test and validate the performance of my node before I purchase a Disguise X1 license?

We strongly recommend the installation of a Designer software version using either the Starter or Pro plan on your chosen node specification to test and validate performance before purchasing a Disguise X1 license.

Can I install Windows Home OS versions on the node that I plan to use alongside a Disguise X1 license?

We have not validated any other Windows OS versions except those that are listed under the Recommended Hardware Specification which can seen here, and will be unable to provide support on any nodes that fail to meet this specification. We will continue to monitor demand for specific Windows OS versions over time.

What support will be provided for Disguise X1?

Support for Disguise X1 licenses will be made available on a best-efforts basis only. Disguise will provide support to diagnose if an issue is related to Designer. Issues identified as Designer related, for example, workflow issues that can be reproduced on a Disguise media server, will be logged and prioritised as normal.

Can Disguise Support assist me with troubleshooting issues specific to the node that I am using with my Disguise X1 license?

The Disguise Support team is unable to troubleshoot issues relating to the node being used with the Disguise X1 license, system performance, or system design.

On which platform will Disguise base its efforts to replicate issues?

The Disguise Support team will use a commercially-available high-specification laptop as a baseline to reproduce reported issues. This will help ascertain whether the issues are attributable to Disguise or external factors

Will Disguise provide Always On Support for Disguise X1?

We will be able to offer Always On Support for Disguise X1 for users that request it. However, this level of support will be offered on a best-efforts basis as outlined here.
