Two Machine System Guide

This document covers actions related to a Porta on Prem setup involving only 2 machines that are not run in a replication group and does not apply to a 3 system setup. For a 3 system setup, see the Replication Group Member Recovery guide.

PX Database Sync

The backup PX machine is running as a cold backup system for use in case of main PX failure. Syncs should only occur from the main system to the backup system, and the backup PX is not intended for simultaneous use with the main PX.

On the main PX machine, within Porta, create and configure for your show as desired.

Once finished, run the MAIN-TO-BACKUP-transfer-database.bat helper within porta-onprem-bundle/porta-helpers/porta-database/actions/caution/transfer to transfer the database from the main machine to the backup machine.

NOTE: an error Out of sort memory may appear in Porta for a short period after transfer (about 30 seconds) while the data is loading. This is normal and should resolve itself.

Note: There is no need to also edit the company socket URL; this helper will automatically configure the socket URL value in the database based on its saved configuration values.
